The Fading Frontier

‘The Fading Frontier’, a six movement symphony written for string orchestra released in May 2021.

When the city commute fell silent during the Covid-19 quarantine an eerie stillness took its place. The city had lost its heartbeat, composed during lockdown this project celebrates all that was lost when the city slept through one of its most troubling times. The city’s sounds are an intrinsic part to many of our daily lives. ‘The Fading Frontier’ is an ode to the bustle and visceral nature of urban life.

The noises that define our existence may seem like a daily annoyance, but without them there is an echoing silence in our lives. A quiet city is the country side without bird song, a quiet city is a life interrupted.

The project was featured by BBC Radio.
